UROLOGY TRAINING.

This month our news update will start with an announcement on Urology training that took place in Prim Vista training center on 9th of December and is the first Urology training hosted in Prima Vista center since its opening in 2015.

What made this course special was the fact that the doctors present were accompanied by their assistant nurses. It was done to enhance health workforce cooperation in OR and to strengthen general improvement of operational flow during urological procedures.

Doctors and nurses from 10 hospitals of Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Al-Ain and other emirates have participated in this event. They had a great opportunity to exchange methods and discuss their technique in URS and PCNL practice as well as make new contacts in their professional field and to broaden their approach on urology procedures in many ways.

The structure of the event was classical: Lectures in the first part of the day were accompanied by Entry survey and Exit survey evaluating the course educational effect for participants.  Theoretical material was delivered by Dr. Nilkamal Joshi from NMC Hospital Al Ain.  His modified approach to RIRS technique apart from other lectures made great impact on participants. Dr. Nilkamal was focusing also on R. Wolf flexible Boa Vision and Cobra Vision scopes safety handling and durability. He gave really handy tips on the subject. He advised his fellow doctors to regularly read manuals and to gather all OT staff to get familiar with manuals for new equipment.  It is simple but yet very efficient method he applies in NMC hospital and it allows to enhance toolkit endurance provided handled properly. In its turn it leads to optimum efficiency of medical workforce and substantially rises safety in OR.

Especially helpful in practical part was the assistance of our German colleagues from R. Wolf Mr. Thorsten Geyer (Marketing Manager Urology) and Mr. Taner Aktas (Urology Product Specialist) Their deep knowledge of equipment, simulators and overall urological procedures was very helpful at all stages of hands on practice and in dealing with urological trainers and laser units MegaPulse 30+ Holmium. Mr. Thorsten took the opportunity to introduce new line of disposable products by R. Wolf launched recently. As always every help and support was delivered from regional management team of R. Wolf Etem Ihtiyar (Regional Manager) Mehrnaz Mostatab (Assistant to Regional Manager) and Sadik Oezaslan (Business Development Manager)

During the practice 2 types of urology trainers were used. One named Endo-Urotrainer LS 50. Modular model. Its anatomy is very advanced and closely similar to real. It has rubber entrance and silicon bladder, inner parts is almost as sensitive as real kidney. The doctor can not apply much pressure through instruments on simulator its urethra will immediately disassemble itself from kidney.   Close loop system with pump allows not to worry about liquid rotation during practice, controlled pump speed makes its handling even easier. Simulator is suitable for different sizes and positions of stone treatment by laser unit. Suitable for URS, rigid and semi rigid cystoscopy. The other model was used was Mediskills model. It is one piece model with transparent kidney structure allowing to follow visually progress of flexible scopes through kidney and to observe treatment of stones by laser not only on screen but through model itself.  Model is filled with water, without pump use.
